Last Hoorah

That’s it. It’s over. It’s over man. Game over.

MC ends in 3 days. Damn, this sucks. The chalet over the weekend was the last ‘enjoy’ for this very eventful MC break.

Sad thing is, I only caught 15 minutes of footage. There’s not enough to make a video out of it.

The Sentosa Trip, Muse Concert, Movie Marathons, Late Night Lepaks, and good old home-slacking… It’s been good.

Well, except for that last part. I’d wish it was more productive, but I still haven’t done the things I set out to do. Maybe I’ll get it done next week.

And now, the comic of the day:
It’s from CLONE MANGA. Awesome artwork & twisted stories.

Suadref Studios

Me and Firdaus spent the whole day yesterday, doing the Haji 06 video for FR travels.

And at night, Ust FR came down to oversee the final steps.

I’m happy that I made my mother happy with this project and the arrival of the Ust.

And I’m happy that I’ve done something rather worthwhile with the time and equipment I have.

A super compact project which includes video transfer, post production, editing, review and compilation. We started at about 2 pm and ended close to 2 am.

I’m just happy that it’ll have a large audience.

So, thanks to all who are involved.

Titans

This, my friends, is an incredibly funny comic. It’s so funny, it’s incredible.

Tatsuya, you’re one talented bastard.

This entry is also a review about a movie I watched today; Remember The Titans.

I’ve heard how inspiring and good it is, and I came to realise that it really IS inspiring, thanks partly to mr Denzel Washington. Awesome actor.

A story about racism and how sports and teamwork integrates people as one. Very touching too. But mostly, I just like it coz of the cool Denzel Washington.

Watch it if you haven’t done so.

Meanwhile, there was supposed to be a big fight today, between Raihan and Horis, but sadly, fate did not allow them to meet in the ring… or arena, whichever is correct. So because of such a sad turn of events, or lack thereof, I didn’t go watch the fights at NUS.

Last I heard, Wan lost again. At least his body is still intact, unlike the last match he had.

Well, that’s it for now.

ROCKY Anthology

Rocky Balboa or Rocky VI is coming out soon. And to get psyched for that, I went and watched Rocky 1, 2 and 4. Here’s a review of Rocky as a whole anthology.

Rocky is the undisputed greatest underdog story of our time. A million to one shot. Take from Rocky 1, his life ain’t looking too good. He’s reaching 30, single, doing a dirty job (something like a loanshark), and his boxing career is going nowhere. Then the world champion picked him to fight against. He trained hard, fell in love, and lasted all 15 rounds. He then gained recognition.

Then in Rocky 2, he wanted to stop fighting, and settle down with the money that he got from the match against the world champ. But circumstances landed him in the ring again. Trained doubly hard, got married, and won the title.

I didn’t watch 3 recently, but I have watched it before. Mr T. I remember it as the first time Rocky was confident of winning, and fought with a different style. The leverage was that his trainer, Mickey, died. And he got serious about the fight, trained under the previous world Champ, Apollo, and retained the title.

In Rocky 4, it was a somewhat political movie, as if Stallone’s trying to gave gus say on the whole US-Russia “Cold War” thing. Apollo dies, Rocky’s out for revenge. And he’s never been more serious. His best shape is in Rocky 4. Fight scene was great too.

In Rocky 5, he’s getting old, he’s taking up the role of Mickey and trained his prodige. External influences turned them against each other and they ended in a street fight. Not the best ending for the Rocky Anthology, which is why there’ll be ROCKY BALBOA!!!

But what Rocky’s all about is the training scenes. They’re inspirational as hell. Makes you wanna go out there, train your ass up, and go whack somebody.

I’ve made a contest of all the training montages, and here are the links, thanks to youtube.

Rocky 1 The Beginning of a great story. Not the best of training vids but enough make you notice his determination.

Rocky 2Established and recognised, this montage is more motivational and moving.

Rocky 3 It’s cool and all, but I think it’s too much male bonding.

Rocky 4:
Part 1 Before the wife’s arrival. He’s all serious and focused.
Part 2After the wife came. He gets more focused and serious.

Rocky 5 (trailer, not training vid. The movie don’t have one.)

And the winner is…. ROCKY 2’s training video!

I give Rocky Anthology 9/10. A little draggy at times, but it’s freaking good!

Training Day

What I’m more interested to talk about is the movie, Training Day. It’s been sitting on my bro’s dvd collection for quite some time. And I’d intend to watch it several times but only found the time (abundance of time) now during my sweet sweet MC.

Denzel Washington is no doubt, one of the best actors I’ve ever seen. I started to like his style when I saw Crimson Tide, and every movie he’s been in has been good, largely because of his presence and acting.

Training Day was no different. But this movie already has a good story, it’s very artistically shot. Every scene has a meaning behind it. I could tell some scenes had a deeper meaning, but when I watched it with commentary from Antoine Fuqua, the director, I realise it’s deeper than it seems. Very cool stuff.

It’s basically about the narcotics undercover agents. Pretty much like our CNB, where the agents look like a typical ah pek or ah beng. Same shit here. The cops in narc are damn ruthless, and could pass as a crook any given time.

Question is, are they really straight, or are they diving deeper than they need to. And the movie really plays with your mind like that. Keeps you confused. Keeps your mind thinking what the Ethan Hawke character is thinking. He’s the rookie who wanna make it big in the force one day, and decides to join narcotics to get there faster.

You know the game series GTA? GTA 3 takes from movies like the Godfather. GTA Vice City is a ripoff from Scar Face. And GTA San Andreas is right off from Training Day, no doubt. It’s good shit.

If you already WATCHED it.. then check this link out. It’s one of my favourite scenes. “I’m the PO-lice! King Kong ain’t got NOTHIN’ ON ME!” Hahhaa. Awesome shit from Denzel.

I give it 9/10. Hell, make it 10/10. I couldn’t find anything imperfect about the movie. And after watching all the extras and features of the DVD, I couldn’t be more convinced. WATCH IT!

Blood Diamond

It’s a good show. I give it 8 out of 10. I’ve always liked movies with a more epic sense, but for a movie like this, you know, set in Africa and all that, it’s rather good.

There are some things I do like about the movie, such as Leonardo’s interesting change from doing prettyboy movies to a hardened mercenary. His accent is cool too. Me and the Bogaman has been talking that way since the movie eh? Ya ya.

Then the next thing, which quite puzzles me, is the degree of hotness of Jennifer Connelly. I know she could be hot, coz’ she was, in Hulk and mm, I dunno what else she starred in. But in Blood Diamond, I was really puzzled.

Scenes from the same movie. Weird and puzzling is what it is.

Storyline wise, it’s quite alright. Not that predictable and keeps you on the edge of your seat. So like I said, 8/10. Not bad at all.

To and Fro

Yet another entry for the Fucked Up category.

Today I woke up with great optimism, and I had so many things in mind to do. I planned to settle my bike matters, collect my video camera, visit the library and do something about the website.

So I started off, after the morning routine *ahem*, to settle my insurance renewal, spark plug change, and road tax renewal.

And the fucked up chain begins.

When I reached the bikeshop, there were as usual, a long line of bikes waiting to service. So I passed the idea of a spark plug change. Then I went up to their office to renew insurance.

The insurance prices went up a lot w.e.f January the 1st. Great. I missed out. Nevermind that, the computer was problematic, and so I had to wait a bloody hour just to settle the insurance, during which I could’ve done maintenance to the bike. But I didn’t. I sat there and wasted my time. Finally the pricey policy was done. And I happily threw away my old insurance, failing to realise that the expiry date has not arrived yet.

I headed down to Vicom, to pay road tax. And after another long queue, the counter-person told me she needed the old insurance cert since the date is not in effect yet. I told her I threw it away.

I had to ride back to the shop, pretend to do something else, and dig the bin and luckily, I found the paper. I wanted to settle the tax there, but they said there’ll be a 2 day wait. What crap! I got pissed off, but the kind (and hot) lady told me that I can do it at the post office. So happily, I rode to good ol’ Bedok Post Office. And the queue was super long, all the way till outside.

So screw it all.

Oh, before that, I went to Denki to collect my camera, which now works. Yay. So happy. Looking forward to using it for the chalet coming up next weekend.

So all in all, it’s been a fucked up afternoon.

No comic lah. Fuck it.
