Back to Ubuntu
Remember how I said good riddance to Ubuntu at the end of the previous semester?
Well, I end up having to use it again. This time, server edition! Damn. I just can’t run from Linux.
So instead of installing VMWare, which clogs up my system like hell, I decided to go all out and install the damn OS on my 2nd hard drive.
After backing up the stuff on it to my external drive, I did the installation. The first time round, there was a problem with the importing of profiles from XP to Ubuntu. So I unchecked the option to import my files the second time round, and it installed smoothly.
All the time from yesterday till today, I’ve spent on pimping my Ubuntu. So right now, it looked like this:
It’s not much… coz I can’t get my resolution up! I tried sudo, I tried messing with x server, I tried everything they said in the forums. What did it give me? 3 times crashed display, and 2 times denied access to my OS.
I’m gonna leave it as 1024 by 768 already.
But all in all, I think it’s pretty neat for a FREE OS. Now I’m in the process of installing the 143 updates they’ve got for me. A lot, isn’t it?

Go with Linux Mint. It’s based on Ubuntu (it’s pratically the same) and irons out all the flaws Ubuntu has, plus it has more customisability.

Ubuntu on itself isnt much to look at but with the right tools you can in fact produce a stunningly beautiful OS graphics interface, putting even the most beautiful UIs to shame. Mint is one of the modded distros, yes. I’m personally using ubuntu studio.
